Linton-On-Ouse campaigners trying to stop 1500 asylum seekers coming to the RAF base north of the city of York have told YorkMix the home office has emailed them this afternoon to say they will get SEVEN days notice before any arrive.
The email came through shortly after lunchtime today and Olga Matthias, who is one of the spokespeople for the Linton Action group, says it rather suggests that the plan is going ahead.
The processing centre at Linton-on-Ouse was expected to open today, but there was talk earlier today that the Government was still thinking carefully about the idea given the huge outcry against it.
The Yorkshire Post said it had seen a letter signed by a senior civil servant, which read: “I can confirm that no final decision has been taken by Ministers to accommodate asylum seekers at RAF Linton.”
