A long empty unit at the Vangarde Shopping Park is set to be filled.
Optician chain Specsavers is planning to open a branch in the York centre.
It would open in the unit next to Frankie & Benny’s. This was once earmarked to be a branch of the NYC Bar and Grill burger restaurant, but the parent company went into administration before it opened.
It still carries the NYC ‘coming soon’ vinyls in the windows.
But that will be replaced by the distinctive green Specsavers signage, if plans now in with City of York Council are approved.
Specsavers opened its first branch more than 30 years ago. It now operates more than 1,900 stores across the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, offering sight and hearing services.
