It was once a Mecca for York bargain hunters.
TK Maxx on Coney Street used to be packed to the rafters with discounted buys, from scented candles to coats, silk shirts to suede shoes.
But as it prepares to shut its doors for good, the shop is a shell of it former glory.
This is all that was left today. Remaining merchandise was on sale on rails in one corner of the ground floor.
Access to the first floor, formerly packed with menswear and home goods and gifts, was empty and closed off.
TK Maxx will shut for good on Wednesday (7 September). In the meantime there’s an extra 50% off all items when you pay at the till, according to the signs.
It is moving out to make way for the Hard Rock Café to move into the vacant building.
The rock ‘n’ roll branded venue signed a deal with the York-based property development company North Star, which owns the building, in May.
North Star believes the café will help to regenerate the city centre, creating more than 75 jobs.
TK Maxx shoppers are now being directed to the branch at Monks Cross, which is still going strong.
