** Update here: Sainsbury’s York store reopens after sudden closure **
A main York supermarket is shut until further notice.
Sainsbury’s at Foss Bank is not trading due to ‘technical difficulties in store’.
Staff are still inside the store but the doors are closed with trolleys placed in front.
The car park is still operating.
A note on the door says: “Due to technical difficulties in store we are unable to trade here at Foss Bank until further notice.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause you.
“Should you require essentials your nearest branch is located in Piccadilly where the fantastic colleagues will be more than happy to serve you.

“We have engineers on site working tirelessly and hope to be open and willing to serve you as soon as we are able.
“Thank you all for choosing Sainsbury’s.”
Some shoppers have said they were told a power cut had caused the problem yesterday (Tuesday).
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “Our York superstore is temporarily closed.
“We are working hard to resolve the issue and are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
YorkMix asked why the store had to close but we haven’t received a reply.
