The inside of large York pub is almost unrecognisable as it undergoes a major refurbishment.
Workers are stripping out the interior of The Postern Gate on Piccadilly ahead of a refit.
One truck and several vans were at the property today as a large team emptied out the Wetherspoon pub and began the upgrade.
A spokesperson for Wetherspoon told YorkMix: “This is a refurb of the pub and kitchen, upgrading the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, toilets and new staff facilities.”
The pub will be closed for two weeks until the work is complete. It is due to reopen on Saturday, 23 September.
Named after the nearby medieval tower called Fishergate Postern, the Postern Gate is inside the Travelodge building.
As well as the capacious interior, there is a courtyard beer garden and some tables next to the river with views towards York Crown Court.
York’s other Wetherspoon pub, the Punch Bowl on Blossom Street, is open as normal.
