A pub in North Yorkshire has burned down overnight, and an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the blaze.
As previously reported, crews from Knaresborough, Harrogate, Acomb, Tadcaster, Ripon, and Wetherby were called to The Cricketers pub in Knaresborough at 4:02 am today.
North Yorkshire Fire Service reported that the blaze inside the pub caused “100% fire damage to the building”, but fortunately, nobody was hurt.
An update provided at 10 am confirmed that crews were still on the scene, damping down the area. An investigation into the cause of the fire has been initiated.
A Fire Service spokesperson said, “Crews used main jets, hose reel jets, breathing apparatus and thermal imaging cameras.”
Knaresborough Town Council released the following statement on social media:
“There has been a large-scale fire at The Cricketers pub in Calcutt in the early hours of this morning. Our thoughts are with all those affected, and the emergency services who have been responding to the fire.
“If anyone is affected by the Fire (not just can’t get to work) and needs additional support, please contact Cllr James Pickard at Knaresborough Town Council by emailing [email protected].”
The Council also advised commuters to allow extra time for travel and to plan their routes carefully, as the fire may cause disruptions.
