It’s nearly ready to open its doors.
Finishing touches were today being added to the Vallado Lounge Café Bar in the York Stadium complex before it opens to all tomorrow (Wednesday).
It’s a big old place, stretching all the way round from the Hollywood Bowl to the Cineworld cinema.
And there’ll be lots of chairs and tables outside, perfect for summer eating and drinking.
The bar is part of Loungers plc, the West Country-based café bar group which also runs the Cosy Club brand.
The company has designed York’s Vallado Lounge with heavily patterned wallpapers, tiling and stripped wooden floors.
It also features oversized vintage sofas, upholstered lounge chairs, wall art and lighting, “creating a variety of cosy and elegant drinking and dining areas to choose from,” the company says.
It adds: “A real home from home, Vallado Lounge will cater for all tastes throughout the day with a varied and innovative all-day menu.
“Whether it is a coffee with friends, a long lazy brunch with family or a relaxed dinner and drinks, Vallado Lounge is the perfect place to relax and unwind in good company.”
The all-day menu will features tapas, salads, burgers and buttermilk fried chicken, with menus for vegans and those favouring a gluten-free diet.
For families, there are a selection of games, books, colouring pencils and pads on offer, along with high chairs and a kids’ menu.
The new café bar has created 30 jobs. Gemma Irwin, community manager at Loungers, says: “We are delighted to be opening Vallado Lounge in York.
“Our Lounges strive to put community at the heart of hospitality and our teams always go the extra mile to make a difference.
“They are actively encouraged to connect with their communities by working with local groups, charities, organisations and businesses that are at the heart of the fabric of local life. We are very much looking forward to welcoming local residents and shoppers to Vallado Lounge.”
The team has partnered with Hoping York Street Kitchen and will donate 50p from every burger and 20p from each coffee sold in the first month of trading to the charity.
