A hearing to decide whether a lap dancing club can keep opening early on York race days has been postponed.
It’s the second time a licensing hearing has been delayed because papers weren’t served on an applicant, and a councillor has asked for an investigation.
Upstairs VIP, on the first floor of Mansion nightclub on Micklegate, has applied to renew its sex establishment licence.
The existing licence allows the club to open from 9pm until 3am Monday to Sunday, and 6pm to 4.30am on race days.
Police have objected to the early race day opening, and City of York Council’s gambling and licensing committee was due to decide the case on Monday.
However, councillors agreed to postpone their decision until their next meeting as the club’s owners had not been notified of the meeting.
Committee member Cllr Ashley Mason said this was the second time a hearing had been postponed because applicants had not been informed, and asked staff to look into the problem.
The committee is next due to meet on Monday, June 18.
