Plans are in for a revamp of a landmark York pub.
Owner Greene King is looking to update The Ainsty on Boroughbridge Road.
In planning documents submitted to City of York Council, the brewery describes the pub as “relatively popular with the local community as well as students in the area”.
“The proposal is part of a rebrand from Greene King and their Hive pub brand which aims to attract new customers to the venue,” the statement says.
Under the plans, there would be “a new external colour scheme to the building and new external ground finishes”.
The exterior of the pub would be painted “Hive blue”.
For the large outdoor area, they want to “the “alter the existing external decking and beer garden with festoon lighting and a new covered pergola”.
A new, larger fence would be installed, with new gates and a walk-in freezer
Greene King says: “The proposed works are to enhance existing customer facilities and staff operation, in order to help facilitate the on-going economic viability of this existing and well-established operation.”
