York City Knights have signed Warrington half-back Riley Dean on a season-long loan deal.
The 19-year-old, a former captain of the Wolves academy team, made his Super League debut against St Helens in 2019 and was in Ireland’s squad for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup qualifiers.
Knights head coach James Ford said: “Riley has shown plenty of promise as a young half at Warrington, origin academies and with England academy.
“He has a good skill set, a strong running game and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Dean will help fill the gap created by an injury to off-season recruit Morgan Smith, a former Warrington scrum-half who is likely to miss the entire 2021 season with a ruptured ACL sustained in training.
