Kitchen scales spark fire in York

Two crews were called out to a fire at home in York last night (Friday).

They were called to York Road at 6.08pm.

The kitchen fire had been caused by some plastic scales left on the hob.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The fire was out on the arrival of crews but had left some smoke logging.

“Crews ventilated the property and gave the occupier advice.’
