There are two chances to see pop icon Will Young in North Yorkshire this year – as he’s heading to York and Scarborough on his new tour.
The tour is described as his ‘most intimate yet’, and will celebrate his forthcoming ninth studio album Light It Up.
Will Young will be bringing his Light It Up Live tour to the Grand Opera House York on Sunday 8 September 2024 and Scarborough Spa Theatre on Saturday 12 October 2024.
Tickets will go on general sale this Friday 26 April at 10am.
The show will be an up close and personal evening of acoustic performances, stories and conversation – with stripped back versions of all his hits, plus songs from his new album.
Will Young first came into the spotlight after winning the inaugural series of ITV’s talent show Pop Idol in 2002. He has achieved enormous success since, with eight sold-out national tours and countless festival appearances – including performing at Glastonbury three times.
“I’m very excited to be going to a lot of places I haven’t been,” said Will Young, about the tour. “I wanted to go to smaller venues so I could properly get around the country rather than just playing the big cities.
“I can finally connect to the fun of it all and that is a place I never thought I would get back to so I’ll take it.
“It has been such a tough time and to be out the other side, it is just so exciting to produce a complete pop album. The crafting of pop music can be so fun and the challenge to sing those songs is something I’ve relished.”
