Comedian, actor and writer Ben Elton is embarking on a new stand-up tour – and he’s coming to York.
He last toured the UK in 2019 with sell-out shows across the country, and it marked his return to live comedy after a fifteen year hiatus.
Now he’s going back on the road with his new show – Authentic Stupidity.
Ben Elton: Authentic Stupidity is at York Barbican on Sunday 1 September 2024.
Tickets will go on sale today (Friday) at 12pm. They can be booked via the York Barbican website.
Talking about the tour, Ben said, “Since my last live tour a whole new existential threat has emerged to threaten humanity! Apparently Artificial Intelligence is going to destroy us all! Well I reckon our real problem isn’t Artificial Intelligence it’s good old fashioned Authentic Stupidity! Forget AI! It’s AS we need to be worrying about!”
Ben Elton first exploded into the national consciousness back in the 1980’s hosting Channel 4’s ground breaking Saturday Live. As well as his stand-up comedy, he was a co-writer on the sitcoms The Young Ones and Blackadder. Ben has published 17 novels and has written several musicals, including We Will Rock You and Love Never Dies.
