So it started with some wintry showers about a week ago.

That was when York dog Truffle experienced snow for the first time – and owner Jo Ellery took a video of him going happily bonkers.

And it went viral. You can read our original report here…

The video has been retweeted 100K times and made Truffle – who has his own Twitter account – an international superstar.

So we thought we’d update you on some of the things that happened next…

Julian Assange appropriates the video

As the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange is known for publishing things which he didn’t create.

And it’s happened again. When he tweeted out the Truffle video he did so with the words “What happens when your dog experiences snow for the first time?” – and no reference to Jo who made it.

Jo confirmed in a Tweet that he hadn’t asked permission to use it. As Diana Hollins put it to Assange on Twitter: “You stole this video! Give credit where credit is due, deceiver.”

Assange has been holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden over sexual assault charges.

Which led @cyberco to note on Twitter: “Wow that cupboard you live in must lead to #Narnia by the looks of it…”

The video was later deleted from his feed.

Truffle says… Good Morning America

The 18-month old cocker spaniel’s snowy romp has also featured on Good Morning America – attributed this time.

You can read their version of the story here.

And the tale has also gone to the Evening Standard, Mashable, The Poke, the Washington Post…

He’s a star in his own city

One of Truffle’s regular drinking holes is the fabulous Maltings on Tanners Moat.

And landlord Shaun Collinge couldn’t be more honoured…

We’re now eagerly awaiting Truffle’s invitation to take tea with the corgis at Buckingham Palace…
