Two unique York businesses – Forage and Shori – have teamed up to create a delicious partnership.
It was a serendipitous meeting when Shori founder Danny Victory popped into Forage for a drink, and discovered they were looking at getting a pop up kitchen.
Specialising in Japanese-style food, Shori has been at SPARK for the past two years but Danny made the decision to leave mid-October – which meant the timing was perfect.
And it sounds like a match made in heaven – as Shori have launched their brand new Japanese-style roast dinner at Forage.
“The partnership just grew quite organically,” said Callum Houston from Forage.
Forage opened recently on Little Stonegate, and specialises in sustainable cocktails that use ‘foraged’ ingredients.
“Danny is really keen on doing great high quality stuff which is unique to the current offering in York, so we fit nicely together,” Callum added.
“The roast began as simply as I said I’d love to do a roast on a Sunday. Danny then put his own Shori spin and it’s rather incredible!”
Customers can choose between char sui pork, lemon and yuzu kosho chicken, and XO mushroom – which is a vegan option.
Served alongside will be Japanese curry roasted glazed carrots, seaweed seasoned roast potatoes, miso sweetcorn and roasted tenderstem broccoli.
…Anyone else suddenly hungry?
The roast dinner is £15 per person, or £25 for two people. It will be served every Sunday from 12pm to 6pm. Booking is advised!
