Yorktoberfest, York’s traditional Bavarian beer festival, will be returning for its third successive year this October.
The popular event will be returning to Clocktower Enclosure at York Racecourse from Thursday 19 October to Saturday 21 October and on Friday 27 and Saturday 29 October.
This year, attendees will be entertained by The Bavarian Strollers, an internationally-renowned seven-piece band set to deliver foot-stomping classic disco tunes.
And revered drag artist Velma Celli will be back – the undisputed star of the show.
Yorktoberfest follows in the traditions of the first Octoberfest staged in Munich in 1810.
It aims to bring all things Bavarian to a fully-styled giant beer tent.
Event organiser James Cundall, CEO of Jamboree Entertainment, said: “We plan to transform the giant marquee into a Bavarian festival scene, with rows of tables and benches down most of its 160m length, a performance stage, rustic carts full of wooden beer barrels, thatched wooden barns, flags galore and generally everything needed for a great night out.”
A Bavarian bar, situated in the marquee, will serve authentic German beer as well as a range of wines, prosecco, spirits and soft drinks for those who prefer not to ‘hop’!
A variety of German-inspired food will cater for all tastes, with the essential favourites of sausages, schnitzels and pretzels as well as vegan and vegetarian options.
Tickets for the events are now on sale and have not gone up in price since last year. A standard ticket will be £20, with VIP passes priced at £30. Tables of six can be booked for £120 and there are early bird discounts.
There will be a special student discount for the opening session on Thursday, 19 October. Early bird students can book for £7.50.
