A new café is set to bring something ‘fun and different’ to York.
Avocado Envy is a brand new eatery opening soon at 3 Blake Street, with a menu based on – you guessed it – avocados!
The unique cafe, which was previously home to the deli and cafe The Larder Club, is aiming to bring a twist to the familiar food item.
YorkMix spoke to owner Michael Brett to find out more.
Michael, who’s based in York, has always had a passion for food. He has been involved in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, working in a variety of roles from kitchen to managment.
He is currently the director for bespoke events company Liquid Catering which specialises in weddings.
“Avocado Envy is a personal dream of mine that combines my love for healthy, creative cuisine with a vibrant dining experience,” said Michael.

“York has such a vibrant food scene, and I saw a gap for something a little different.
“Avocados have become a symbol of healthy, modern eating, and I wanted to create a space that was dedicated to them.”
The menu will be centred around avocados, and customers can expect gourmet toasts, hearty bowls, salads, fresh juices, and even sweet options like avocado brownies.
“We’ve designed the menu to cater to a range of tastes and dietary preferences, so there’s something for everyone.”
An official opening date for the cafe is yet to be confirmed, but it aims to open in the next few weeks. Opening hours will be Monday to Saturday, 9am to 4:30pm, and Sundays, 10am to 5pm.
“We’re so excited to bring Avocado Envy to York! We’re so close to the finish line now.
“We want to bring something fun and different to York, offering a space where people can enjoy creative dishes that are healthy and satisfying.
“We can’t wait to open the doors and welcome everyone in to try what we’ve been working on.”
