This huge tree branch has crashed onto a riverside path just yards from where people were walking.
It came down “with a huge bang” onto the York foot and cycle path next to the Ouse, close to the Blue Bridge.
The tree fall blocked the footpath completely. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Former City of York Council councillor Johnny Hayes was nearby.
He told YorkMix: “We were about ten yards away when there was this huge bang.
“This immense branch the size of a tree fell off and crashed down.
“People were very close but nobody was hurt I’m glad to say.
“It sounded like a cannon going off.”
Johnny contacted the council. This evening two men were working to cut up the monster branch. While they are working, the path is out of bounds, but people can get by on the grass.
