That was clearly the brief given to the creators of one of the biggest scarecrows we’ve ever seen.
The gingerbread person was one of many amazing creations at the Appleton Roebuck Scarecrow Festival – and it was certainly the tallest.

There were some tremendous entries into this year’s festival, held in the village between York and Selby.
A monstrous crocodile with Captain Hook, the new King, the Mario brothers and a big blue Cookie Monster were only a few to catch the eye.
