The fire at Burger King at Clifton Moor in York came just two weeks after another of the chain of fast food restaurants was gutted in Wiltshire.
The BBC reported a similar fire in Swindon. Residents living nearby were advised to keep their doors and windows closed on the evening of 24 June when fire broke out in the branch on Queens Drive in the town.
A huge pall of smoke covered the area as flames appeared above the roof of the building.

In both cases the building was badly damaged and fire crews had to withdraw from fighting the fire inside for fear that the roof would collapse.
