The dedication and service of a host of people from York and North Yorkshire have been honoured in the King’s Birthday Honours.

Altogether, 20 people across York and North Yorkshire have been named in the list of awards which recognise the work of citizens across the UK.

The recipients locally include representatives from the charity sector, the military and business and commerce.

The Lord Lieutenant, Jo Ropner, who is the King’s representative for North Yorkshire, spoke of the huge pride that those named in the list can take from being included in the Birthday Honours.

She said: “The King’s Birthday Honours rightly recognise the efforts of those who have made a significant contribution to society.

“Those who have been honoured in North Yorkshire come from a diverse range of roles that gives an indication of how varied life is in the county.
