‘I’m running the London Marathon for my brother – dressed as a moose’
My name is Maxie Wade. I live in York and I am running the London Marathon on Sunday for the National Autistic Society.
This is a cause very close to my heart as my brother Jack is severely autistic, so I am keenly aware of the challenges and hardships autistic people and their families face in terms of getting support and help for such a misunderstood condition.
The National Autistic Society is a fantastic charity which provides support and advice for autistic people and their families at a time when social care services are being cut.
There are more than 700,000 people in the UK with a diagnosis of autism, I want to do my bit to raise awareness and help people with this condition.
I will be competing the 26.2 mile race in a moose costume, just to add a bit of fun and silliness to get the crowd cheering me on.
If you would like to support me, go to my Just Giving page here. Thank you!
