Despite the drizzly start to the day an impressive crowed gathered outside York Minster determined to ‘Save our NHS’.
Organised by the York Labour Party, the event drew around 400 raincoat-clad protestors on Saturday (April 7).
Accompanied by a brass band, they marched from the Minster to St Helen’s Square, via Parliament Street and Coney Street
Colourful hand-made signs and banners were complimented by chants such as: ‘Public health not private wealth!’ and ‘Who’s NHS? Our NHS!’ as the procession moved through the city.

Quotes from Nye Bevan were painted across banners and ‘Migrants make our NHS’ was printed on placards throughout the crowd.
Once gathered in St Helen’s Square, a rally took place featuring speakers including Labour MP for York Central Rachael Maskell and city councillor Fiona Derbyshire.
Representatives from York Green party, Stand Up To Racism and of course #saveourNHS also attended.
