The festival that explores the big questions is back for its third consecutive year.
York Design Week will take place from Wednesday 20 to Tuesday 26 October 2021.
The festival will feature a range of exhibitions, workshops, installations, talks and live music – both in-person and online.
This year’s theme is What a Pickle? and aims to explore possible solutions to a range of issues.

“We’re living in challenging times,” said York Design Week co-founder Rebecca Carr.
“Increasing uncertainty about the future can often leave us feeling powerless and fearful.
“York Design Week 2021 sets out to ask: What if we weren’t in such a pickle? What would that look, feel and be like? How could we design a way there? And how can we work together to do this?”
The festival will engage with complex issues such as mental health, poverty, the climate crisis, racism, and more.

“The team has worked very hard to bring a diverse array of perspectives to the table this year, to discuss and explore possible solutions to the complex challenges we face,” said York Design Week co-founder Richard Corrigan.
York Design Week is a collaborative festival, working with partners across the city.
Partners include the MCN Network, York Civic Trust, Guild of Media Arts, York St John University and City of York Council – who have supported the event from their recent Additional Recovery Grant from the government.
