Emergency services went to a house fire in Tadcaster this afternoon (Monday).
Fire crews from from Tadcaster, Acomb and Knaresborough tackled the blaze, which saw smoke billowing from the roof of the two-storey home, next to the A659.
Police were also on scene, and closed the road to traffic while the incident was ongoing.
The fire is now out.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said they were called at 12.03pm: “Crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire and roof tiles were removed to access hotspots with a hose reel jet and ceiling hooks.
“The incident was left open for a revisit by fire crews who reattended to confirm the fire had not reignited. The fire had ignited accidentally.”
