And now, the time is near, and so we face, the final curtain… or something. Without getting too carried away, the time is indeed near. Our movie Transatlantic Smash has been unleashed on the world!
There has been a lot of talk and coverage of local creatives making films, and having big projects in York recently.
And as every man and his Marvel seem to be doing joined up movie universes these days, we say if you can’t beat em, join em.
Therefore we’re announcing that all of our Fossgate Studios/ Fixated On Productions content to date now resides somewhere in the Yorkiverse. Yeah, I know, just go with it…
Co-director Spencer Vale describes it thus: “This is our fictional version of York (and surrounding area) where elements of reality blend in.
“Like having a character called Peter Marshall based on an individual called Peter Marshall for example.”
As producer, I would describe it as “York, but not as you know it.”
As you can see, the Yorkiverse is a strange beast, featuring recognisable landmarks, West End stars and very silly jokes.
Very. Silly. Jokes.
It is a world I have loved inhabiting over the last 18 months, from the very first meeting at the Black Swan in January 2013 to now.
And while I know we may not win any awards, or be whisked off to Hollywood to remake something or other, I will know that I have had a great time, with some good people.
I will also know that for a film which cost us under £1,000 I am really quite proud of it – and if you don’t like our film, then that is OK.
It is not a film that everyone will like, but those who do, will love it, as we do. So maybe take a chance on a little underdog project? Who knows, for 80 minutes you might just enjoy yourself?!
The finished film is now available to rent or stream: just click here.
It will initially be available online, but there are DVD’s and soundtrack CD’s on the way too. So if you really can’t get Beard Envy out of your head, you can sing along at home!
All these things will be available from Fossgate Studios. Enjoy!
