York’s library service is looking for new people to help shape the future of the service.
Explore York Libraries and Archives are inviting local people to put themselves forward to be a community director.
An Explore spokesperson said: “Experience as a board director is not essential. It is much more important that you are willing to learn, love York’s libraries and archives, and are passionate about what Explore is and can be in the future.
“Explore is keen to hear from people who will make sure the voice of York’s varied communities is heard at board level. We are looking for applicants who believe in the power of libraries to change lives.”
They are now are inviting people to put their names forward. Explore’s chair Chris Edwards is happy to talk to potential applicants.
An online election will take place in August, and the names of the two successful candidates will be announced at Explore’s annual general meeting on 5 September.
