The popularity of York’s Christmas market has been revealed by a new survey.
Make It York revealed that nearly half (49%) of the city’s festive visitors came for the Christmas market alone.
Altogether York’s Christmas activities influenced 75% of tourists to come here.
The figures were released as Make It York confirmed plans for this year’s Christmas market.
It will return between 16 November and 22 December, with the decorated chalets back on Parliament Street and elsewhere in the city centre.
Make It York’s research into 2022 also demonstrated that York Christmas Market had a positive impact on other businesses within the city.
Altogether 87% of visitors spent their time in York shopping within the Christmas Market itself, with 93% then shopping elsewhere in the city and 80% eating and drinking in venues away from the market.*
