Police are investigating after a ten-year-old girl was followed home from school by a stranger in York.
It happened at about 3.15pm on Monday.
The girl was walking home from Archbishop of York’s Junior School in Bishopthorpe. She was on Sim Balk Lane when she became aware of the unknown man.
Incident location
The man did not approach or speak to the girl, but appeared to follow her as she continued her journey along the cycle track towards Knavesmire Woods.
He is described as
- white
- aged around 60
- with shaved short white hair
- and distinctive black eyebrows.
He was wearing a checked shirt underneath a navy, Harrington-style jacket with green and burgundy horizontal stripes on the front, black trousers and black shoes.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We have been carrying out enquiries to establish the identity of the man, and these enquiries remain ongoing.
“We’re appealing to the man to come forward and to anyone who can help us identify him, to contact us.
“Local policing teams will continue to provide an increased presence in the area.”
