Students can enjoy freebies, discounts and entertainment at a special shopping event in York.

Coppergate Centre, York

Tues Oct 3, 6pm-8pm

More details

The Coppergate Centre is hosting its Student Takeover on Tuesday (October 3) between 6pm and 8pm.

It’s a chance to stock up on last minute supplies for the term ahead, or get the latest fashions and gifts with some money off.

More shops than ever

This year, more stores than ever before are taking part in the evening, which encourages students into the city centre for all of their shopping needs.

Joining stalwarts including Fenwick, Topshop and The Body Shop will be jewellery store Pia and Coppergate newcomers, Primark and The Works.

Many of the stores are offering exclusive discounts for the evening, including 30% off at The Body Shop.

Goodie bags and samples will be available from a number of outlets, including tasty cupcakes from Patisserie Valerie.

Magic balls and caricatures

Sphere of influence: Steve Bullen, aka The Magic Ball Man

“We had a fantastic turnout last year, but with the addition of Primark and The Works offering extra value to students all year round, we’re hoping that this year’s event is the biggest and best yet,” comments centre manager, Pippa Unwin.

“Students can preregister on our Facebook page, and just need to bring along their valid student ID to take advantage of the superb discounts on the night.”

Entertainment starts from 5.30pm – students can enjoy a free caricature sitting, and York’s Magic Ball Man will be on hand with his unique performance of remarkable manual dexterity.

The event is primarily aimed at York students, but those from further afield are welcome with valid student ID.
