A new festival is coming to York next month – with more than 30 acts and workshops for all to enjoy.
On Saturday and Sunday 2 and 3 of April, the YorkLife festival will showcase talent from the city, with a variety of musicians, comedians and performers taking to the stage.
Organised by Make It York, with funding from City of York Council, the event on Parliament Street is aimed at entertaining residents while helping the city’s recovery from Covid-19.
Managing director at Make It York Sarah Loftus said: “YorkLife is a celebration of local York talent and culture, from our street musicians to our local community groups.
“We want to really celebrate the sense of community in York and we’re encouraging residents to come join the party and see some of the hottest talent York has to offer.”
The Saturday headliner is party band Huge, who have been entertaining the people of York for the last 30 years with their four-piece brass section.
On Sunday the weekend’s festivities will be closed by a performance from The Howl & The Hum, who recently performed at York Minster.
Others taking to the stage include the likes of Kitty VR, Bull, Carnival and Hyde Family Jam.
There’ll also be interactive sessions to enjoy, such as theatre workshops, instrumental workshops, face painting, comedy and dance performances.
Fire performers and circus acts will be on hand to bring the festival feel to York this spring.
