Four fire crews tackled a blaze at a York recycling centre last night (Tuesday).
Two appliances from Acomb, and one each from York and Huntington, went to the fire at Rufforth at 8.33pm.
The fire measured 100m by 25m.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews extinguished the fire using hose reel jets, breathing apparatus, thermal imaging cameras and the on site sprinkler system.
“Specialist machinery was then used to remove the recycling from the building and advice was given to on site staff.”
The cause of the fire is unknown.
