With a weekly Forest School and everything from water pumps to a frog tunnel in its playground, Clifton School and Nursery is a big hit with children.

And now, by extending its childcare provision and offering more flexible start-up times, it is proving even more popular with parents.

Part of the historic St Peter’s School, the nursery is found on Clifton, just a few minutes’ walk from York Minster.

The newly refurbished accommodation is light and airy, and complemented by an exciting landscaped play area, with water pumps, tunnels, a climbing wall, sand and water play areas – and even a frog tunnel to help resident frogs and newts travel safely underneath the main path.

Every child takes part in Forest School on a weekly basis, and pupils at Clifton also have access to all the facilities of the senior school – including the swimming pool, main sports hall, and sports pitches.

New staggered start times

Children can now join Clifton School and Nursery at staggered points during the year, with their education individually tailored to their stage of development.

Children who turn three during the Christmas term may now enter the Nursery at the beginning of the Christmas term in September

Children who turn three during the Easter term may now enter the Nursery at the beginning of the Easter term in January

Children who turn three after the start of the Summer term may now enter the Nursery at the beginning of the Summer term in April

This will have a big impact, says Phil Hardy, Head of Clifton:

Children who missed our previous date of entry had no option of joining us for up to another year.

Those twelve months make an enormous difference to a child’s development and I am delighted that we are now able to help bridge this crucial stage in our pupils’ education.

Places for rising threes are limited. Parents are advised to contact the school as quickly as possible if they are interested in entry during 2015/16.
