York’s winter of floods is extending into spring.
A flood warning has been issued as the River Ouse once again overtops its banks.
The warning is for riverside properties by the Ouse. As usual, the rest of York is unaffected.
Updated at 7.49am today (Friday), the warning says: “River levels remain high on the River Ouse due to recent heavy rainfall. Further rainfall is expected in the coming days.
“There is a risk of flooding on King’s Staith in York and riverside areas through York from Lendal Bridge to Millennium Bridge.
“We will continue to monitor levels closely. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.”
The Viking Recorder showed the Ouse had reached 3.02m at 7am. It is forecast to peak at 3.41m by 8.40am tomorrow (Saturday).
