Updated: Flood alerts issued for North Yorkshire after heavy rain
There are flood alerts tonight after large parts of North Yorkshire were affected by heavy rain fall.
River Swale
A flood alert has been issued as river levels on the Swale are rising, Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected this evening and overnight into Wednesday 06/10/2021.
Areas most at risk are low lying land and roads, particularly those around Maunby. Further light rainfall is forecast overnight and river levels to remain high into tomorrow morning.
River Rye
A flood alert is in place. This covers land around the River Rye and it’s tributaries, including Ralsdale Beck, River Seph, Ledge Beck, Fangdale Beck, Prodale Beck, Ladhill Beck, Etton Gill, Borough Beck, Spittle Beck, including properties of Salton, Nunnington and Helmsley
Upper River Derwent
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Derwent. No property flooding is expected. No further rainfall is forecast. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.

Meanwhile, a flood warning is still in force on the River Esk in the Whitby area around Ruswarp.
