It claims to offer “the best roast beef in York”, and the Trip Advisor reviews certainly rate its roasts highly. Offering a traditional warm and cosy pub welcome, the Hole In The Wall is just round the corner from the Minster, and its Sunday roast clocks in at £9.50.

One of York’s top independent restaurants, The Rattle Owl is found in a beautiful 17th century building. With a menu big on local, seasonal produce, and two courses for £21, you should certainly fly over there for a tasty roast.
