Compared to what’s been happening elsewhere in Britain – and the world – it was hardly snowmageddon.
But York has had its first snowfall of 2019.
Less than an inch of the white stuff was able to make the city look pretty without too much disruption early on.
Buses are, for the most part, operating normally. Police have issued warnings to drivers to take care:
#weatherupdate many of us are waking up to snow this morning, most of which has fallen on ice. Please #StaySafe and allow extra time for your journey. Ensure all windows and lights are completely cleared before setting off.

Snow has fallen in most parts of our County, on top of freezing rain. Conditions are not good. Make sure you allow extra time for journeys and take care out there.
Also, if you have elderly neighbours, try and check in on them, especially if they are alone with no family.— NYP Control Room (@NYPControlRoom) February 1, 2019
York gritters were back out this morning to clear remaining snow off main roads.
The forecast is for a cold day, with a top temperature of 2C, and possibly some more wintry showers.
