Organisers of the Great Yorkshire Fringe – the ten-day comedy and entertainment extravaganza planned for York next summer – have announced the first acts.
A leading stand up, cabaret featuring songs by Boy George and an acclaimed children’s stage adapatation are among the shows already signed up.
Tickets for the Great Yorkshire Fringe go on sale today (November 5). It hits York from July 24 to August 2 2015.
The first comedian on the Great Yorkshire Fringe bill is Henning Wehn. Self-styled German ambassador to the UK, Henning brings his show Ein, Zwei, DIY to the festival.
He won the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year and is a regular on panel shows including 8 Out Of 10 Cats and QI.
For families, Stick Man will be in York after three acclaimed, sold out West End seasons.
A touching, funny and original live action adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s hugely popular children’s book is aimed at everyone aged three and up.
It features a trio of top actors and is packed full of puppetry, songs, live music and funky moves.
The Supreme Fabulettes
All singing male girl group The Supreme Fabulettes are the first cabaret act on board – and they sound simply fabulous, dahling!
They perform signature Glee-style song mash-ups of Sixties hits and contemporary songs by likes of The Supremes, The Andrews Sisters, Adele and Beyonce among many others.
Directed and styled by Kylie Minogue’s creative director William Baker, the show also features original songs written by Boy George.
The Tommy Cooper Show
One of Britain’s comedy greats will be celebrated at the festival as Just Like That! The Tommy Cooper Show arrives direct from a West End run.
Commemorating 30 years since his Cooper’s death, the show includes magic and music as well as mirth. The legend lives on…
Are you hilarious? Then the fringe could catapult you to a new showbiz career…
