York experienced a sugar rush on Friday (November 4) as the city’s first Krispy Kreme doughnut shop opened its doors.
First to go through them at 10am was Amelia, 22, from York. She was rewarded with a coveted Krispy Kreme Gold Card, entitling her to share a complimentary double dozen every month for a year.
She said: “As soon as I heard that a new Krispy Kreme store was opening at York Designer Outlet I wanted to try to be the first in store.
“It’s a fantastic feeling to be the first in line and to get my hands on a Krispy Kreme Gold Card – I’m getting married next year, so plan on sharing the doughnuts with my family and friends at the wedding.”
Original glazed dozen – £9.45
Assorted dozen – £10.95
Choose your own dozen – £12.45
Double dozen – £15.95
Choose your own double dozen – £17.45
The first dozen in line were also treated to an exclusive Krispy Kreme goody bag.
The new store sells signature original glazed doughnuts and 15 other doughnut varieties, including a limited edition Nutty Chocolatta filled with Nutella.
It also sells coffee – made by Krispy Kreme baristas from 100% freshly ground Arabica beans – and Kreme Shakes.
Krispy Kreme chief marketing officer Judith Denby said: “There’s been a fantastic buzz in York this morning, and it’s been great to meet some of our newest guests as they get their first experience of Krispy Kreme.
“Thank you to everybody who came down – we look forward to welcoming lots more York residents in store in the coming weeks.”
