York, get ready for treats galore.
A new cake shop has opened its doors.
Ellie Warburtons Cakes has welcomed its first customers to a shop on Stonegate today (Wednesday).
Selling “deliciously indulgent” treats, the shop is part of the Warburtons brand, famous for their bread.
The launch follows the success of a pop up store in Skipton last year.
The business was featured this month on Channel 4 show Inside The Superbrands.
It is named after Warburtons founder, Ellie, who started a baking business in Bolton 146 years ago.
The Stonegate shop, in the 300-year-old building formerly home to the Yorkshire Terrier pub, will sell all its favourite cakes, including cookie dough with caramel slices, espresso brownies, lemon with raspberry compotes and many more.
You can also by Happy Birthday and Thank You Boxes with lots of treats for friends and family.
Cakes will be available priced at £12 for four and individually at £3.50.

Chairman of Warbutons, and Ellie’s great-great nephew, Jonathan Warburton said: “We are thrilled to bring Ellie Warburtons Cakes to the buzzing city of York.
“This new store with an eat in concept offers customers the chance to sample our line up of mouthwatering cakes alongside a menu of baked goods in this central location.
“We are continuing to bring with us the core of Warburtons ethos – quality and taste – through the Ellie Warburtons range of deliciously indulgent cakes, as following the success of our two pop up locations in the North, we hope to build on our loyal fanbase of cake lovers and bread fans alike!”
