You can now slide into the main York McDonald’s and enjoy its modern new look.
A automatic sliding door, added to improve accessibility for wheelchair users and parents with pushchairs, is the first indication – apart from a new lick of paint for the front – that the Blake Street restaurant has changed.
Inside a £400,000, three-week refurb has seen all new fixtures and fittings installed.
“It is more open, light and airy, and has a more contemporary feel,” says McDonald’s York franchisee John Atherton.
Extra self-service kiosks have been added – they are now the most popular way to order food there, in several languages – and offer the option of table service too.
The new McDonald’s reopened this morning (Thursday 27 June). It is the last of John’s five restaurants around York to get a refurb.
His group employs 578 people, including 153 at Blake Street.
