Firefighters tackled a blaze which destroyed a garage last night – and saved neighbouring houses.
Crews were called to the fire at a large domestic detached garage in Selby at 4.59pm.
The Selby firefighters “immediately requested a further two appliances to attend due to the size of the fire and the possibility of it spreading to neighbouring properties”.
Crews from York and Snaith, from the Humberside Fire Service, came in support, and the team put out the blaze.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The garage was destroyed by fire. Crews prevented the fire from spreading and used main jets.”
