A dog has lived to wag its tail another day thanks to York firefighters.
They were called out at 7.09am today (Friday) after the dog slipped and fell into the River Foss.
The animal was struggling in the water off Heworth Green.
Firefighters used a “reach pole and crew power” to rescue the pet. “The dog was left safely with the owner,” they said.
