Firefighters through the ages have rescued cats stuck up a tree.
But there was a slight variation on the theme in York last night (Saturday).
This cat had got stranded up a telegraph poll on Bede Avenue, Clifton.

When the fire service were first called about the incident, they directed the caller to the RSPCA.
But then the RSPCA called York fire station at 6.48pm to ask for their help in a rescue operation.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At the request of the RSPCA – after the caller was originally directed to contact them first – a York fire crew used a 9 metre ladder to safely rescue a cat from a telegraph pole.”
