A 14-tonne boat nearly broke free of its moorings on the River Ouse in York last night.
The cruiser was moored near Naburn Hall. It became loose during high winds and was damaging the pontoon and neighbouring boats.
Firefighters from York were called in at 6.25pm and managed to re-secure the boat using throw lines.
It was one of a number of calls to the brigade on a busy night shift caused by Storm Eunice. Here are some of the incidents:
5.39pm – Firefighters were called to Low Petergate in York to a sign hanging dangerously from a commercial building due to the high winds. The crews removed the sign using a 9m ladder and bolt cutters.
6.03pm – Roof materials were in the road at West Ayton, Scarborough. An officer removed them from the carriageway and gave advice to staff on site.
6.07pm – An officer responded to reports of loose tiles and debris falling from a property on St Martin’s Lane, York. He found no evidence of roof damage.
7.20pm – Crews from Acomb responded to reports of water leaking at a residential premises at Foss Islands Road, York. They isolated the water leak using small tools gave advice to the occupant.
10.29pm – Crews from Tadcaster responded to reports of a light hanging dangerously on Westgate in the town. They re-secured the light using a triple extension ladder.
