North Yorkshire firefighters released people who were trapped in their vehicles in two crashes on the roads last night.

At 5.35pm at Ampleforth, crews from Malton and Kirkbymoorside were called to a two-vehicle crash.

They released an elderly man from one of the vehicles, who was taken to hospital for treatment.

Later, at 7.28pm, Northallerton and Thirsk firefighters went to a single vehicle collision on the A19 Northbound near North Kilvington.

The car had left the road, and one man was trapped. The crews released him using cutting gear, small tools, lines, glass cutter and stabilisation equipment.
