Firefighters launch river search for missing North Yorkshire girl
Firefighters took to the waters after a girl went missing near a North Yorkshire river.
They were called in by an ambulance crew attending an intoxicated male youth by the River Ure at Boroughbridge at 6.46pm last night (Wednesday).
There was a fear that a missing girl was in the river due to items found on the bank. The fire service launched its rescue boats in a search.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Two level two water rescue and two level three water rescue teams mobilised from Boroughbridge, Ripon, and Richmond.
“Shortly after Boroughbridge attended, contact was made with the missing female – safely back with her parents.”
