When you’re in the fire service, false alarms come in many forms.
Some are deliberate, but most are well-intentioned calls from people who believe there’s a possible emergency, which turns out to have an innocent explanation.
Firefighters went to four false alarms last night (Saturday), three of them caused by automatic fire alarms.
One of them was quite different, however. Crews from York fire station were called to Huntington Road in York at 10.17pm.
This is all the official report said: “York crews responded to an acrid smell coming from a property.
“Crews investigated and found the cause to be cooking fumes from a neighbour.”
What they were cooking was not recorded, nor their response to this slight on their culinary abilities.
