Firefighters were called out to a fire in Acomb last night (Monday).
Crews from Acomb and York responded to reports of smoke in the third floor corridor of a block of flats in Burnsall Drive, York at 10.11pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On arrival crews discovered this was a chip pan fire that was already extinguished.”
Two firefighters in breathing apparatus went into the affected flat to ventilate the smoke. Light smoke damage was caused to the kitchen.
Earlier last night, at 9.28pm, a crew from York put out a small fire in the open off Knavesmire Road “that had been ignited by a group of teenagers”.
