Firefighters were called in after a loud bang was heard coming from a York property this afternoon (Wednesday).
They went to the incident off Burlington Avenue at 3.56pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Fire crews from Acomb and York were called after calls were received stating there’d been a loud bang and smoke from a property in the area.
“Upon attendance this was found to have been a fire under a gas board which was already out upon our arrival.
“Crews isolated the gas supply and awaited the attendance of gas board to hand the incident over.”
